  8. Optional: The connection cable for the triple/quadruple handplate at the back of the handplate

Installing of the hardware (Winaura Video Station handplate)

  1. Make sure that the computer at which you want to install the program WinAura is shut off.

  2. First install the hardware, i.e. connect the peripherals to the computer. For using the program WinAura connect your handplate - that is the handsensorbox - with the connection cable to the Mouseport (COM-Port #1) or the serial COM-Port #2 of your computer. If you want to continue working with the mouse under Windows plug the mouse into a PS2-Port or if not available, use COM-Port #2 for the connection of the handplate.

  3. Optional: If you have purchased the additional multiple handplate connect the triple/quadruple handplate with the connection cable from the back of the single handplate.

  4. Plug the power supply into the handplate and connect the power supply with the wall outlet. Switch on the handplate (the ON/OFF-switch for the handplate is at D, if the handplate is turned on the red light at E is on).

  5. On Helping Hand handplates (additional switch at the back of the handplate) turn the switch DOWN for using regular Winaura functions and turn it UP for using Helping Hand trainer.

  6. Be sure to use the wrist strap with the handplate which you plug into the back of the handplate. Without the strap, WinAura will deduct one count every time a hand is placed on the handplate. With the strap, Winaura will deduct one count when the hand is first placed on the handplate and no more until the program is restarted or a report is printed.

  7. Plug the delivered dongle between your printer's port and the so-called parallel port and plug the printer into the dongle.

Installing of the hardware (Aura Camera left handplate)

You can use WinAura and the 6000 Polaroid Aura Camera together. The 6000 camera’s left handplate can send aura information to WinAura and the 6000 camera at the same time. The 6000 camera will produce a picture that looks very similar to the image on WinAura’s monitor. To set this up, proceed as follows:

  1. Disconnect the printer from the 25-pin socket on the camera’s left handplate, if one is connected there.

  2. Make sure that the computer at which you want to install the program WinAura is shut off.

  3. First install the hardware, i.e. connect the peripherals to the computer. For using the program WinAura connect the left handplate of your aura camera - that is the handsensorbox - with the connection cable to the Mouseport (COM-Port #1) or the serial COM-Port #2 of your computer. Find the camera handplate serial option cable for this purpose. It comes with the 6000 camera. It has a nine-pin connector on one end and a small round plug on the other end that looks like the connector on stereo headphones. Plug the headphone-like connector into the jack on the handplate marked “Option.” Plug the nine-pin connector into the COM serial port on the computer that is running WinAura. If you want to continue working with the mouse under Windows plug the mouse into a PS2-Port or if not available, use COM-Port #2 for the connection of the handplate.

  4. Plug the power supply into the handplate and connect the power supply with the wall outlet.

  5. You can use the single left handplate of the camera in combination with the right handplate or without it. For using the right handplate with the left handplate just plug the right handplate into the left handplate of the camera.

  6. Plug the delivered dongle between your printer's port and the so-called parallel port and plug the printer into the dongle.

  7. Start WinAura and, on the startup screen, select “Aura Camera 6000” under “Input” and check the “Button on Cam” box.

  8. If you are using a computer camera with Winaura, set it atop the 6000 Polaroid camera so it sees the same view of the subject that the 6000 camera sees.

  9. When you use the shutter release on the 6000 camera, the handplate will tell WinAura to print a picture(from the computer’s camera) and a report on the computer’s printer.

Since you can choose the language used, and you can customize the text to suit your methods of aura analysis, this arrangement can be used instead of the 6000 camera’s built-in report system. If you are doing this solely for the customizable report, you do not need a computer camera. Just select “None” under Video on the WinAura startup screen. You will need a dongle for WinAura as well as a module in the handplate.

For video input the USB-camera Vicam/3com HomeConnect PC Digital Camera from Vistaimaging (www.vistaimaging.com) or http://www.3com.com is recommended.

USB-camera Vicam / 3com HomeConnect PC Digital Camera

The USB-camera Vicam/3com HomeConnect PC Digital Camera plugs into your computer's USB-port and you can install the Vicam/3com software and driver according to the Vicam/3com manual. You can use the USB technique under Win98, WinNT and Win95. If you want to use USB under Win95, install the USB support for Win95. Before you start installing and running Winaura, please test the Vicam camera whether it takes correct pictures with the software from Vistaimaging/3com.

At last make sure the power supply of the handsensorbox is okay. The connection port for the power is right beside the connection port for the comupter connection. Make sure the appliance is correctly connected with the power outlet and the dongle is still valid, i.e. that there are enough points on the dongle.

Installing of the programs (Software)

Before you install the programs you have to install the software to have a driver for your Vicam/3com Camera. Follow the upcoming instructions:

Installing 3com software.

Turn on the computer and let the Windows system start. As soon as the system is loaded put in the CD for installing 3com software into your CD drive. As soon as the CD is inserted the installation program is supposed to start by itself. Follow the instructions of the program and refer to the manual for the video camera if necessary.

After that you should install the aura software.

Winaura installation

Put the delivered aura CD into the CD-drive. This also should open a browser window, let you choose the language (English) and bring you to a menu (Contents of this CD) where you can choose the version of Winaura you want to install. When printing this manual version of 1.6, 1.7, 3.0 and 4.0, 5.0 were available.

If the desired window does not open make sure that the delivered Aura CD is in your CD-drive. Click with the mouse on „start“ and then click on „run“. A dialogbox opens. Click on the button „search“ and go in the CD to the directory Winaura to the current directory number (VXX) and open the Winaura setup directory. Double click on „Setup.exe“ and you get back to the dialogbox. There you click on „OK“. You will be lead through the setup process.

WinAura Quickstart

System Requirements

To ensure that you get the best performance from your WinAura system, we recommend the following computer configurations:

Computer minimum requirements: WinAura up to V3.0: At least a 486DX/66 Processor, 32 MB RAM, CD-ROM drive, Printer port, available serial port. Also, you must be able to use your display at a resolution of 1024 X 768 and a color setting of 256 colors (for WinAura V3.0) or High Color 16 or 24 bit (for WinAuraV4.0). WinAura V4.0: Pentium II 300 MHz, 64 MB RAM, and ports, disk, and display capabilities as above. Most computers built in the last two years will handle these settings. You can use the controls on the Settings tab of the Display control panel to see what display can do.

The speed of the system materially affects WinAura’s performance, so the faster the computer you use, the more accurately WinAura will reproduce the aura. We get good results with Pentium-class machines of 450 MHz.. or faster. The faster the better.

The full installation of WinAura and the Interactive programs will require approximately 60 MB of disk space. You do not have to install the Interactive series to use WinAura.

Windows 98 is recommended as the operating system because the older Windows 95 system software does not easily support the USB (Universal Serial Bus) connection used with the recommended video cameras. We haven’t yet tested with Windows 2000 or Millennium Edition. We think there will be few if any problems. Windows 95 version B will work with WinAura but may have trouble with some add-on USB interface cards. Windows 98 is preferred. We have not heard of any specific brand of Windows computer that will NOT work with Winaura.

We have had good results with the low cost E-Machines systems. (www.e4me.com) for desktop use.

WinAura works equally well on laptop systems. The requirements are similar to those in desktop systems. Use a laptop that has the required ports (USB, Serial, Printer) and CD-ROM built-in. (A DVD drive will work, but no better than a CD-ROM drive.) There are some laptops that use “docking adapters” for some of the port connectors. Avoid these. Many laptops with small (10-12”) screens use a “hardware pan and scroll” to achieve 1024 X 768 resolution. Do not let a fast talking salesperson talk you into this system being a real 1024 X 768 system. What you see on the screen is a 640 X 480 or 800 X 600 “window” into a virtual 1024 X 768 image. That’s not what you want. Be sure you get true 1024 X 768 resolution. Many new laptops can display the full 1024 X 768 on screen. These tend to be the pricier ones with the 14” screens. We have used the Compaq Presario 1600-series (www.compaq.com), and Sony Vaio (www.sony.com)

Video RAM: You will need to be able to set your display resolution to 1024 X 768.

Additionally you need to be able to set the colors to 256 for WinAura V. 3.0 and to High Color-16 bit if you will be running Interactive for windows or WinAuraV4.0. WinAuraV4.0 looks a little better in 24-bit resolution. Usually four megabytes of video RAM is enough. Use the controls on the Settings tab of the Display control panel to see what your display can do.

Display Properties Dialog. Display Settings as adjusted for Winaura

Click with the right button anywhere on the desktop. A menu will appear. Click on “Properties” and the display Properties dialog will appear as above, left. Then click on the “Settings” tab. ”, Now click the little down arrow in the colors box and set the color resolution to 256 colors if you are using WinAura V3.0. or High Color if you are using WinAura V.4.0. Then if the resolution is not set to 1024X768 pull the slider until the resolution is set to 1024X768.

The colors and resolution adjustments will appear as above, right.

If you can set your display settings dialog as shown above your video card, video RAM and monitor are suitable for use with WinAura.

If you can’t get the settings to stay, that is, increasing the colors forces the resolution down and increasing the resolution forces fewer colors, you do not have enough video RAM. You may have to take the machine to a shop to have more video RAM installed or you may need a new video display card installed.

When you change display settings, the computer may ask you to restart. Do so.

Printer: We recommend Epson Stylus 900, 850, or 860 (www.epson.com), Canon BJC 6000, BJC 4400, and BJC 4300 (www.canon.com). The 6000 is a big machine with large replaceable ink cartridges. This makes it a good choice for office use, or if you expect to print a lot of snapshots in WinAura. This printer also has a special “Photo” mode, using special ink cartridges, that produces very high quality printouts. It’s also quieter in its operation than the Epsons. The Canon 4300 and 4400 are no longer made, but if you have one it will work well with WinAura. The Epsons appear to be of slightly better build quality than the smaller Canons.

With the exception of the smaller Canons, all of these machines’ printing quality is about equally suitable for WinAura.

We have previously been recommending Hewlett-Packard printers, and some clients have successfully used them. However we have recently seen situations wherein the H-P printer conflicted with the 3Com camera software. The result was that WinAura would freeze up after a few minutes and need to be restarted.

Video Camera: We recommend the 3Com Home Connect USB camera (www.3com.com). In fact, this is the only one we have seen work consistently with WinAura V3.0 and earlier versions. It is also one of the best made, in build quality and picture clarity. It appears not to use the standard Microsoft Video for Windows driver software. This camera was formerly marketed as the Vicam USB.

In WinAura4.0, we have improved the program’s video technology to support the Video for Windows (VfW) driver.

If you use WinAura V. 4.0 we recommend the 3Com or the Intel Pro Pack PC Camera. (www.intel.com/PCcamera) This is also a fine camera for general use. Since as of V4.0 WinAura is VfW compatible, most cameras should work. If you have another camera, we would appreciate feedback on your experience.

Television adapter for video recording: If you wish to record a session on videotape you will need an adapter to convert the computer’s VGA output to a television video signal compatible with your television set and VCR. We recommend the Avermedia line.

These devices are made in NTSC (for North America) and PAL (for Europe) versions. (www.aver.com) Tel.(510) 770-9899 Also the Tvator by Antec www.antec-inc.com 510 770-1200, Fax 770 1288. It is no surprise that most video technology is developed with in ten miles for Aura Imaging. In fact this is why Aura Imaging is located in the most expensive area in the world. This area is where we got the technology to create WinAura. We consult with the leaders in the field. We believe any Aura video system developed anywhere else would be forced to use older technology.

There are other brands of VGA-to-television converters. You want to be sure that you get one that can handle a screen resolution of 1024X768. Some laptops and some desktop video cards have the television adapter built-in and have a television video out connector. If you have one of these the hardware manual will help you configure it.

Recording sound to your VCR:

If you are using a VCR to record your aura analysis sessions and wish to record voice on the video tape sound track you will need a microphone with a line-level output. We have used a Radio Shack Karaoke unit to amplify the microphone for this purpose. The 4 channel microphone mixer #321106 should work if you can not get the Karaoke unit You may want to experiment with their Wireless Microphones. Be careful with these as they can be undependable. If you want the best you can purchase a Art Tube MP for $119 and a AKG C1000 microphone for $199 from your local music shop or call Gelb music (650) 365-8878.

WinAura Hand Sensor: If you have an Aura Imaging 6000 Polaroid Aura Camera, you can use its left handplate. If you don’t have a 6000 camera, you can order a “Sensor 1000” handplate for use with WinAura from Aura Imaging.

Installing the software.

WinAura uses three computer software components, the video camera software, the printer software, and WinAura itself.

It is best to install WinAura last, after you have verified that the other parts are working.

If you do not already have your printer installed, follow the manufacturer’s directions carefully. The instructions with some printers may recommend changing the printer port’s operating mode. The Canon BJC 6000 requires that you set the printer port to ECP mode. The user manual for the computer will tell you how to do this. In one case where we hadn’t set the port as directed things worked fine until a report was printed. Then the video image froze. Setting the mode to ECP as directed fixed the problem. When you get the printer installed, follow the manufacturer’s directions to print a test page. When the printer is working you can go on to installing the video camera.

Many newer printers have a USB connection in addition to their parallel connection. If your computer has two or more USB ports, try using the USB option on your printer. It’s much faster than the parallel. You’ll need a USB cable instead of the parallel cable; and you’ll use the USB installation procedure as discussed in the printer’s setup instructions. We are using the Epson StylusColor 900 in our demonstration system with the USB connection and it works much faster than it did under the parallel connection. This really speeds along the printing of snapshots.

Note: There is a problem with USB on some computers. These computers are the ones that have a “Standby” functions that kicks in after a few minutes of non-use. The idea is to save energy. However many USB device drivers conflict with this. The result is that if you ignore the machine long enough to get it to try to go to standby mode it will display an alert saying that some program or driver prevented standby. The default time for this is 20 minutes. Then when you shut down the machine it will hang when the screen says “Windows is shutting down” Then you have to pull the power cord to turn off the machine.

There are two solutions. First, go to Start:Settings:Control Panel: Power Management. Then, under Power Schemes, Choose “Always On”. This will make the machine never go into standby and prevent the shutdown-hang problem. While in the control panel you can set the screen turnoff delay if you like. Screen turnoff can be used as long as standby is set to Never.

The other workaround is to go the website of the printer manufacturer and see if there is an updated USB driver that fixes this issue. Then download and install the new driver.

Follow the directions to install the camera’s software. Read it all through first and note whether you should or should not have the camera plugged in when you install the software.

When you get the camera software installed, verify that you can see the camera’s output on the screen. Then set the camera on top of your monitor so you see yourself in the screen. Use the camera’s software controls to select 24-bit color and 640 X 480 format. After you get it working with WinAura you may want to try a higher than 640X480 resolution if your camera supports a higher resolution. Be careful about the format as some cameras can generate formats incompatible with WinAura.

Note on Laptop CD-ROM Drives

These “pop-out” drives are rather delicate. Be careful handling them. Place the machine on a tabletop, not in your lap when inserting or removing disks. When mounting a disk on the drive, pop it out with its button (see computer owner’s manual for location) and pull it gently until it stops. Do not touch the lens or other gadgetry in the drive. Place the disk, label side up, on the hub. Now support the outer end of the drive with one hand while you snap the disk onto the drive’s hub with the other hand. Don’t let the drive’s slide-in-and-out tracks take the force needed to snap the disk onto the hub. When removing the disk, tilt the disk’s rear edge up slightly and it will easily pop off the hub. Don’t leave the drive open longer than needed to change disks. Remove disks if you aren’t using them.

Now you are ready to install WinAura. Insert the WinAura CD-ROM into the drive and open its window by clicking on My Computer, upper left of screen, then click on the little icon that look like a CD disk. This is the directory of the disk.

.

Now open the folder called “WinAura.” This is the WinAura directory.

Within this folder, open the folder called “V3.0” or “V4.0” according to the version of WinAura you want to install first. Some users install both V3.0 and V4.0. Once installed the two can coexist on the machine and you can run either as you wish. WinAuraV3.0 is faster, but V4.0 shows a higher picture quality. If you have problems with these versions of WinAura uninstall them and try V1.7.

This is the WinAuraV4.0 directory

You’ll probably be using latest version unless special conditions dictate otherwise.

Now find the “Setup.exe” icon. Some computers might not show the files’ extensions (“.exe” “.ini”, etc) as shown above Just note that the Setup icon you want here is the one showing a computer with an open box of disks. Double-click this icon.

The WinAura installer will start up. Follow the prompts and WinAura will be installed. If the installer gives you a message that says ”The following files failed to self-register…” just click “Next” This situation is not known to cause any problems.

Note: If you are reinstalling the same version you had before you must uninstall before reinstalling.

To uninstall, open the Control Panels folder. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. Scroll through the list to find the WinAura software you are uninstalling. Click it to highlight it. Then click the “Add/Remove” button. If the system asks you if you want to remove any “shared library files” or “dll files” click the “No to All” button. When the uninstaller is finished, open the “Program Files” folder and find the WinAura folder. Drag this folder to the Recycle Bin. Now you can install the new version of WinAura as detailed above.

When WinAura is installed, go to the Display control panel and click the “Settings” tab. Set the resolution to 1024 X 768. Then,

If you are using WinAura3.0, set the colors to 256 colors.

If you are using WinAura4.0, set the colors to High Color (16 Bit) or better (24 Bit)

Then click “Apply”.

Installing the WinAura Hardware.

There are three things that need to be connected to your computer for WinAura to work:

The Handplate, the Video Camera, the Dongle and, (optionally) the Printer. The dongle is the usage counter and copy protection device. You may make and install as many copies of WinAura as you like, but WinAura will run only if there’s a dongle connected to the computer. Dongles come in two styles, Parallel and USB. The parallel dongle is a white thing with a connector on one end to plug into the computer’s printer port and another connector for the printer’s cable. The dongle is a pass-through device that has no effect on printing. The parallel dongle is the one normally supplied with WinAura. There is also the USB dongle. This is a little purple gadget with only one USB connector. Just plug the USB dongle into any USB port on the computer or USB hub. Windows will find it and install the necessary software.

The Handplate is connected to a serial, or COM, port. Your mouse or external modem may also be connected to a COM port, especially in the case of an older computer. If you do have a mouse on COM1, look for a similar port marked COM2 and connect the handplate there.

In a newer computer, the mouse is on it’s own port (marked with a picture of a mouse near the connector) and the modem is inside the computer with a telephone line jack on the back of the computer. The COM port is available. It will be marked COM1 or Serial 1. Connect the 9-pin connector from the handplate to the COM1 port.

If you are using the left handplate from the model 6000 Polaroid camera as your sensor box you should have a cable with a 9-pin connector on one end and a stereo “headphone-type” connector on the other. Plug the “headphone” connector into the jack marked “Option” on the handplate. The other end then goes to your serial port. When using a 6000-type handplate with WinAura, remember to unplug any printer you may have connected to the handplate. A printer connected to the 6000-type handplate tells it not to talk to its “Option” jack.

While the WinAura setup screen implies that the handplate can be used on all four possible COM ports, it doesn’t always work that way, due to computer configuration situations. If you have problems communicating with the handplate, put it on COM1, restart the machine, and see if that helps. See the “Questions about WinAura” document for details.

Connect the cable from the wall transformer to the handplate and plug the wall transformer into a wall outlet. If you are not in the USA and your electricity is not 110V, be sure you have a proper wall transformer, if in doubt contact Aura Imaging for help. The wrong transformer could destroy itself or the handplate.

There is a wriststrap supplied with the Model 1000 Sensor Box. Plug the connector on its cable into the small jack on the fingertip end of the Sensor Box. Then fasten the strap around either wrist as you use WinAura. Without the wriststrap, WinAura will deduct one dongle count every time you place your hand on the handplate. Using the wriststrap prevents these deductions.

Some handplates have the “Helping Hand” option installed. This consists of an 8-pin socket and a switch mounted on the fingertip end of the handplate box. When you are using Winaura, leave the switch near the 8-pin socket in the down position. If this switch is left up, Winaura will show a purple aura when it starts up even with no hand on the plate.

Plug the camera into a USB port on the computer. If there’s more than one USB port, use either one. Be sure you have installed the camera’s software before connecting the camera. The camera’s software will recognize the camera. Make it a habit to always plug the camera into the same USB port. All USB ports are supposed to be created equal, but in fact they are not always so, and changing ports may cause problems. Try to always use the same USB port. If your computer crashes or is not shut down properly, it may become confused about its USB devices. If WinAura reports it can’t find the camera, quit WinAura, shut down the computer, unplug the camera, restart the computer, plug in the camera, let the computer find the camera, then start WinAura.

Connect the dongle to the printer port. Unplug the printer, plug the dongle into the printer port, and plug the printer into the dongle. If you aren’t using a printer you still need to install the dongle or WinAura won’t work. If you have two parallel ports (LPT1 and LPT2) you can plug the dongle into either one. WinAura will find it.

Workstation Setup

Provide a comfortable chair for the subject and a table that will hold the monitor at or slightly above the subject’s eye level. You will also need a place for the computer’s keyboard and mouse. We use a computer workstation desk with pull-out keyboard shelf.

The handplate can be placed here or in the subject’s lap, as convenient.

Place the video camera atop the monitor, in the center, facing the subject. The camera’s cable should pass over the top of the monitor and hang down the back. You might want to use some tape or Velcro to hold the cable and camera base in place. Place the handplate where it will be comfortable for the subjects left hand. Have someone sit in the subject’s seat. Start up the camera’s own software and observe the subject’s image on the monitor. Have the person sit comfortably and place their hand on the handplate. (for position, not for aura). Position the camera so the person’s face is in the center of the screen and adjust the camera’s focus as needed.

Normal office-level lighting works fine. You probably won’t need a separate light on the subject’s face. You want to avoid bright lights behind the subject that would confuse the camera. For best results and pleasing pictures a plain light-colored curtain or room divider about three feet behind the subject works well. You will need this backdrop if you will be using the Aura Live option.

Place the printer out of the way but where the operator can easily get to it.

Connect the wriststrap to the handplate and strap it onto the subject’s wrist. It doesn’t have to be tight. The electrodes should both contact the subject’s skin.

Now verify that the printer, camera, and handplate are connected and powered up.

See that there is paper in the printer.

There is a red light on one end of the handplate to indicate that it is on. Turn on the handplate’s power switch if necessary. Look for the WinAura shortcut icon on the desktop and double-click it to start WinAura. WinAura should display its setup screen. Select the options as needed for your setup and click the “OK” button. Now click the “Large” button at the top of the screen. The video image should fill the screen, with control buttons at the top.

Now you should configure the camera for WinAura.

The following camera configuration instructions are for the 3Com HomeConnect camera, they may differ if you have a different camera but the settings are very similar among cameras.

  1. Double-click anywhere in the picture. You will see one of the camera’s software configuration dialog boxes.

  2. Be sure “High Quality” is selected. The rest of the settings are OK as they are.

  3. Click the “More” button. You will see more camera configuration options.

  4. If the electricity in your area is 60 Hz, check the “60Hz” box. This is to reduce flickering with fluorescent lighting. In places where the electricity is 50 Hz, (much of Europe) leave the box unchecked.

  5. Click the “Mirror” box to place a checkmark. Now when the subject moves to the left the image will move to the left, just like looking into a mirror.

  6. Under Automatic Gain Control, select AVC Center Average.

  7. Click the “OK” button on this dialog box. You will see another camera configuration dialog.

  8. Set the image size to 640 X 480, and the Image Color Format to 24-bit. Avoid the YUV formats as they will crash WinAura and either WinAura or Windows will have to be reinstalled.

  9. Now click the dialog’s OK button. This completes the system setup.

The 3Com Camera setup dialogs as configured for WinAura.

You should see the subject’s picture on the monitor. Get the subject’s face centered in the screen and let them place their hand on the handplate. After a few moments the aura will appear. It may change shape and color. Most auras do. Click the “Print” button at the top. The Print button will turn red. Have the subject sit still until the button turns blue again.

This completes the WinAura set-up procedure. Now you can follow the accompanying instructions for using WinAura

If you intend to use the system at a show or expo, be sure to review these instructions and practice setting up the system so you are sure you know how to do it and have everything you need. At the show is not the place to discover that you need help or forgot something.

Reliability Note

We strongly recommend that you install as few other programs as possible on your WinAura machine. This ESPECIALLY goes for programs that access the Internet. Too much stuff installed, and adding and deleting programs, are the major causes of failure in Windows systems. At the show or in front of the client is not the time to learn that Junior’s game has put WinAura out of action.

Winaura's start

Put your screen properties on 256 colors for version 3.0 and older. If you work with 4.0 or higher you don´t need to adjust the screen color resolution. Now you can start Winaura for the first time. After the WinAura system is installed you may start WinAura by double-clicking the WinAura icon that now appears on your Windows desktop.

Winaura's start screen

WinAura 4.0 Startup screen.

The user controls of WinAura allow you to configure its operations to suit your needs and the system you are using. They are divided into several categories as displayed on the WinAura setup screen. There are 4 big columns INPUT, VIDEO, PRINTER and LANGUAGE. Select the buttons with the mouse the way you need it for your work before you enter the main program of Winaura.

INPUT (of sensor information)

Here you choose your source for Aura-information input.

None: Just for tests without information input from the handplate. Tells WinAura to operate without a handplate connected. This is used primarily for producing sample reports for promotional purposes.

AuraCam 6000: For the use of the Aura camera's handplate (left handplate) in connection with Winaura. Allows WinAura to use the type of handplate supplied with the Model 6000 Polaroid Aura Camera.

Button on Cam: This can be checked when you have the Model 6000 Polaroid Aura Camera connected to the handplate in addition to the WinAura system. If this option is checked, WinAura will print a report when the Polaroid camera’s shutter is tripped. If you want to make a printout via the left handplate of the aura camera connected to the computer when a photo is taken.

Aura Sensor Box: For using an interactive handplate without the left handplate of the auraphoto camera. This sensor box is supplied to WinAura purchasers who do not have a model 6000 camera or who need a separate handplate for use with WinAura. Both types of handplate perform equally well.

Active Aura: When this is checked, it allows the system to show finer nuances in the aura color as it rapidly changes. This can be of benefit in analyzing the auras of certain subjects.

Port: This indicates the connection port of the handplate. Choose the appropriate COM-Port to which the handplate is connected. If the mouse is connected on COM-port #1, you should plug the handplate into the 2nd port and check the button for COM-Port #2.

VIDEO

This option determines the kind of video input.

None: Just for tests without video input. Tells WinAura to operate without a video camera installed. In this case WinAura will display and print the aura over a gray background instead of the subject’s picture.

(Other) Cameras: If you are using a USB port or another input possibility for your video signal please choose the right driver for your video input source. Usually this should be the 3comHomeConnect camera driver. For choosing a camera driver you should install the driver with the video camera software first. The name of your camera should appear in the field under the words “Camera Driver.” If not, click on the triangle to the right and a list will appear. Click on the name of your camera. In many cases you can have more than one video source on your system and change among them with this control, but sometimes this causes problems. See the chapter “Questions about WinAura” for further details.

If you want the aura to align to the movements of the person, you should also check the button Aura Live. This option tells WinAura to pay attention to positional information and to map the aura display over the image of the subject’s head. This gives a more reassuring reality to the program’s display, however the accuracy of the aura color reception is not affected.

ONLY WINAURA 4.0 and higher (The following controls do not appear in WinAura V3.0 or lower)

Helping Hand Colors: This works in conjunction with the Aura Live checkbox and the Helping Hand Trainer software. If Helping Hand Colors is set to None, checking the Aura Live box will allow the displayed aura always to follow the image of the subject’s head. If there is a color selected, the image following will only occur when the chosen color is represented by the subject’s energy as received on the handplate. The recommended procedure is to run a few sessions on the Helping Hand Trainer and determine the subject’s indicated color (from the color patches under the indicators) when the subject feels the flow of energy. Then select this color in WinAura’s Helping Hand Colors control..

Now the displayed aura will only move when the subject’s energy is flowing. (If Aura Live is checked)

Quality: Controls the amount of detail presented in the aura image. There are three levels of precision available. After you install WinAura V4.0, When you first run it, look at the quality setting. If it is blank, pull down the menu and choose a setting. If you operate WinAura with this setting blank, the aura will flicker. Once you select a quality setting this problem will never happen again.

Intensity: Controls the opacity of the aura, or how densely it overlays or hides the video image of the subject.

Sharpness: Adds a blur to the image of the aura, obscuring fine detail. This produces a visually pleasing effect. If you wish a display similiar to an aura photo you should draw the slider back to Zero.

Note: With the Quality set to “Fastest,” the Intensity and Sharpness sliders can’t be moved.

PRINTER

In this column you can determine if your printer should be connected and enabled.

None: Tells WinAura not to use the printer. This is useful, for example, if the system is in a waiting room or lobby and you don’t want people wasting your paper or dongle counts.

Printer connected: Allows use of the printer.

Printer Setup: Brings up the system’s Printer Setup dialog. Use this to configure the printer for the size and type of paper you are using. Set the print quality to the highest or next-to-highest setting. The higher quality you choose, the longer it will take to print a page. Try the different settings to see what works best for you. This dialogue may vary depending on the options available with your printer. Consult your printer’s manual for the options available to you.

Long printout: Click the box to place or remove a checkmark. If this box is checked WinAura will print out a three or four page report with a couple of extra pages beyond the standard one or two page report that is printed when this is unchecked. This long report may be more useful for the first sessions with a subject. See also the Languages setting.

Graphs: This enables the printing of a page containing several graphs detailing some of the raw information gathered by the handplate during the session. Further information about the content and interpretation of these graphs is not available from Aura Imaging at this time.

Large picture: This tells WinAura to arrange the first page of the report with a larger picture of the subject. The other content of the report is not affected.

LANGUAGE

You can choose the language you want to use on the printouts and screen. Click on the triangle to the right of the field and select the desired language from the pull-down menu. Note that not all languages listed are actually implemented.

There is a special choice, American Verbose, which has longer, more detailed report information. The texts for the different color interpretations on the system can be directly edited on American/English machines with the button Edit your Text in Wordpad. On Windows computers of other languages you have to edit the files manually with the editors Wordpad or Notepad coming by default with your standard Windows system. The files are located on the harddisk in the installation directory in C:\Program Files\Winaura\LANG\AME and C:\Programme\Winaura\LANG\AME7. These files are labeled by three groups of letters and numbers:

a) The leading two digits - these mean the color. The different digits have the following meaning:

01- ULTRA VIOLET
02- VIOLET
03- LIGHT VIOLET
04- LAVENDER
05- WHITE
06- BLUE WHITE
07- LIGHT BLUE
08- BLUE
09- AQUAMARINE
10- TURQUOISE
11- GREEN
12- YELLOW/GREEN
13- GREEN/YELLOW
14- YELLOW
15- GOLD
16- GOLDEN ORANGE
17- ORANGE
18- RED/ORANGE
19- ORANGE/RED
20- RED

b) The following letters indicate the area where this color can be seen:

BAR: Average or Crown chakra with 7 chakra display

CNT: Center or Forehead chakra with 7 chakra display

HRT: Heart chakra

LFT: Left side

RGT: Right side

ROO: Root chakra

SEX: Sex chakra

SPL: Solarplexus chakra

THT: Throat chakra

c) The file extension indicates the language in which the files are written: AME - American, English, GER - German, ENG - English, SPA - Spanish, CHI - Chinese, JAP - Japanese.

How to edit the language files

It is possible to modify almost all the text that appears in the reports. This allows you to modify the reports to suit your theory of color interpretation

You will want to personalize the line that says “Put your company name here.” Let’s use this as an example. First, you should save a copy of the folder named “Lang.” It’s in your Program Files\Winaura\V3.0 (or V4.0) directory. Save your copy in another directory. You can replace your working copy with this backup should something go wrong. Then start WinAura. Be sure you have selected the language you are working with in the language pull-down, and “Regular” in the aura images pull-down. Then click the “Edit your Text” button. You will see a window with a long list of files.

Text File Selector Window.

These files are where the text in the reports comes from. Scroll down to near the bottom of the list until you find the entry “Textby.TXT.” Double-click on it. WinAura will start the Wordpad text editor program. A window will appear containing the contents of the file “Textby.TXT.” As WinAura is distributed this will say “Put your company name here.”

Look to see if there are any boxes or other odd characters in the file. If you see one of these, DO NOT delete it. Now delete the line that says “Put your company name here.” and type in your name and address as you would like them to appear in the printed report. Do not exceed one line. Now choose “Save” from the file menu above. Now choose “Exit” from the File menu. You will go back to WinAura’s set-up screen. When you next print a report, your name will appear under “Text By.”

Now choose “7 Chakra” from the aura images pull-down, and repeat the editing sequence. There are actually two sets of text files for each language. One is used with the 7-chakra aura images mode only and the other is used with the other modes (Regular, Simple, etc.) You must edit the text files in each mode you wish to use

In this manner you can modify any file listed in the “Edit your Text…” window.

Winaura may have trouble with some characters or diacritical marks such as the German Umlaut. If you use these, have Winaura print the modified text in a report to be sure there are no problems.

There is one exceptional file, flag.ico, in each file set. Wordpad opens it as gibberish because it is not really text. It is the little national flag icon that appears under the selected language on the startup screen.

There is a separate folder inside the Lang folder for each language selectable from the Language pull-down on the setup screen.

Note that the “Software by Aura Imaging…” line on the reports and the text that appears at the bottom of snapshots CANNOT be removed or modified. Also, do not change the names or the extensions of these files.

Using Languages other than English

If the text files are installed, simply select the language desired from the Language pull-down on the setup screen. If you do not have files in the language you need you will need to obtain or create them. All the folders within the Lang folder as shipped have text files in them and will print in reports. In some languages, there may be some items still in English.

The American setting uses American English.

The American Verbose goes into more detail in the reports.

The English setting is supposed to use British spelling and grammar.

The Spanish setting is supposed to use Castillian or European Spanish spelling and grammar.

The Mexican setting is supposed to use New World Spanish spelling and grammar.

The Brazilian setting uses Portuguese.

The Deutsch setting uses German

The Nederlands uses Dutch..

The Francais setting uses French.

The Ind (Indonesian?) setting contains English text files.

The Hebrew and Japanese settings are not supported in the current release.

There are text files in the Chinese folders. However, to use the Chinese language you must install a program called NJStar Communicator. (www.njstar.com) This allows your system to print Chinese characters. Contact us for technical support about this.

Aura Images:

You can also determine the kind of aura graphics. Usually you will set this setting to regular or 7 chakras.

Regular or Expo: Produces a head-and-shoulder aura with Throat and Heart chakras. Use with the Small and Large view screens only.

7-chakra: Produces a full-body aura including the seven chakras. Use with Medium and Large view screens only.

Newest-Try it or Expo 2: Produces a head-and-shoulder aura much like Regular. Use with Small and Large view screens only.

Simple or Research: Similar to Regular and Newest.

Control buttons at the start screen:

OK: This button tells WinAura to accept the settings you have entered on the startup screen

Cancel: Quits WinAura without saving any changes you made to the startup controls.

Special Keys: Brings up a list of the functions F1 through F12 on your keyboard as they relate to WinAura.

If all your properties are chosen click „OK“. Winaura starts. If the error message „no handplate detected“ appears, make sure your handplate ist connected properly and switched on. If your handplate has an ON/OFF-switcher switch OFF and ON and repeat the start process. Position your client's hand on the handplate and focus the video camera on him.

Winaura working

After you have clicked the “OK” button you will be taken to the Small screen view. At the top there are several blue buttons. The first two will take you to the Medium and Large screen views.

Winaura 4.0 Small View screen

Quick Overview for the program using

If you have started the program you get the display of the additional pointers.

Following things can be recognized:

  1. At the top left you find a slot for inserting the name of the person whose aura is displayed on the screen. This name also appears on the computer printout.

  2. In the middle of the screen you recognize the display of theperson and its Aura colors around the body. These colors and the display of the person change permanently. For the meaning of the color and the meaning of the regions where they appear, you can look up the chapters for color meanings of the Aura and meaning of the different regions of an aura photo in this manual or you can use from Winaura V5.0 on the next point No. 3 described beyond to get the explanation of the meaning of the color and place while sitting in front of the program.

  3. Furtheron you recognize 5/9 colorful bar graphs which show the frequency of energy of 5/9 chacras or energy centers in color and their longitude. There is head (Center), right body's side (Right), left body's side (Left), heart and throat, and furthermore solar plexus, sex, root and crown. You can also recognize these colors on the screen. From Version 5.0 on you can double-click on the colored bars to get further information while running the program without doing a printout.

  4. At the top right you see the „Remaining“ and a count of points. This count of points is still available on your dongle counter. When you start the program the first time you find 2222 points on the counter.

  5. Furtheron you can recognize a thermometer which measures your hand's temperature via a built-in sensor in the handplate.

  6. Two green meters (Winaura 3.0 and lower) and the balance meter show the frequencies of the right and left body side. From Winaura 4.0 and higher you find the emotio-meter, a sort of lie detector and the average meter. The average meter shows the average aura color.

  7. The base frequency of the heart is displayed with the blue graph.

  8. The body-mind-spirit meter shows the relationsship between body, mind and spirit.

  9. The aura rate slider at the bottom right side determines the frequency of how often the aura display is updated. If you draw the slider to very left all information will be displayed immediately on the screen. This enables you to view even the slightest changes in the aura. If you draw the slider to the very right the aura display will be more stable and does not flicker in many colors.

At the header of the window you find various buttons which have several functions:

  1. MEDIUM: To switch to 7 chakra display.

  2. LARGE: To switch to portrait display.

  3. PRINT: You can print the screen by clicking with the mouse on PRINT.

  4. PRINTER SETUP: Calls up the printer settings.

  5. SNAPSHOT: Does a snaphot of the video display. You can simulate photo quality with this function by the following steps: Put in photo print paper, choose printer setup and set your printer to highest printout quality for photo printing. Then click on snapshot when you want to have the photo-like picture to be printed out. A printout starts which prints only the picture of the person without any text. A printer setup selection box comes up and lets you modify the printer settings again so that you can turn them back to normal quality for text printing on usual paper which you have to insert after the photo print has been completed. If you wish to have the text of the photo you just printed out you can choose so by then.

  6. RESET COLORS: You can reset the colors by click on this button.

  7. SPECIAL KEYS: Shows an overview of function keys.

  8. GRAPHS: Shows graphs which are associated with body organs.

Overview Function keys

Printing

The “Print” button causes WinAura to capture the current video and aura information and prepare the report data for printing. Note that the actual data capture may take place up to two seconds after you click the Print button, so hold a pose until after the print button turns red. You must have your hand on the handplate when you press the print button. If you want to make printing easier press the control "Ctrl" key. If you are using a video camera input this freezes the aura, but not the subject’s image, making it easier to fit the image of the subject into the aura. Then (V 1.6 - V4.0) click on print button seen at the top center of the small view screen or top left in medium and large screens. You must press the “Ctrl” key again to allow the system to resume updating the aura image. Do not take your hand off the sensor box or take off your wrist strap until your session is over. After the print out starts the aura will start changing again and you can resume your session with out losing warranty counts. Using the “Ctrl” key has also the advantage of not losing dongle points when you want to take off your hand for a short moment or have the aura of somebody else displayed. For that you need to have the hand taken off the hand plate and somebody else needs to put his hand on the plate. So proceed like this: Press the “Ctrl” key and the aura freezes. Take off your hand without a loss of points. Have somebody else put his hand on the handplate and press again the “Ctrl” key. The aura starts moving again and you lost no point.

Printing Snapshots

The Snapshot button makes it easy to print a photograph-like image on a sheet of glossy paper for framing or promotional purposes. The printed image is sized to fit on one quarter of an 8 ½” X 11” sheet. These sheets generally are supplied with the printer and larger packages can be obtained at a good computer store.

Place the 4 ¼” X 5 ½” sheet in the printer, wide edge down. Do not reset the printer’s paper size settings. Leave it set up for your standard size paper. When the subject is ready, click the Snapshot button. A dialog will appear asking you if you want a report or just the snapshot. Don’t click anything until the snapshot is printed. Then click “No” if you don’t want the report, or load regular paper into the printer and THEN click “Yes.” The report, with picture, will then print. It is best to have the printer configured for the best quality printing when doing snapshots. Use the printer setup button on WinAura’s startup screen to access the printer setup dialog. Choose “Best” rather than “Fast” printing, and set the paper type to Photo or Glossy paper. Don’t worry about using these settings with regular paper for the reports, it will work correctly. Snapshot quality is affected by the “Colors” setting in the Display Properties control panel (Should be 24 or 32 bit color), and by whether you have Winaura set to Small, Medium, or Large view when you print the snapshot. Also bear in mind that some printers may not work correctly with snapshots. We know that the Epson 900 produces excellent snapshots.

If you do a lot of snapshots, take a sheet of the photo-quality paper to a print shop and see if they will sell you a package of 500 sheets of similar paper and shear it into quarters for you. This should be much more economical than the computer store.

In WinAura V 4.0 it is important to make sure you have the display colors set to 16-bit High Color or 24-bit when printing. It’s hard to see on the monitor the difference between WinAura’s display in 256 colors and in 24-bit. However, the difference in the printed output is quite noticeable. Pictures printed in 256-color mode have a garish, paint-by-number effect.

Preparing “Sample” Reports - Test button

If you have selected “None” in the input section of the setup screen, there will be an additional button marked “Test.” If you click this button you will see many “sample” aura images. This is used to quickly prepare sample reports for use as promotional handouts.

Using The 7 Chakra display mode

This mode is best used in the large display size. The easiest way to handle the live video in this mode is to turn it off by clicking “None” under Video in WinAura’s setup screen. You will then see a full-body aura with seven chakras against a gray background. This is perfect for chakra analysis. Optionally, you can stand the subject up, about 6-8 feet from the camera, turn on the camera in WinAura’s startup screen, and adjust the video camera to place the top (crown) chakra just above the subject’s head, and produce a picture with a full-body aura.

If you prefer to use the 7 Chakra medium view, you can make it larger on your screen by setting your screen resolution back to 800 X 600 or 640 X 480.

Large Screen View with Seven-Chakra Display Winaura 4.0

Other aura display modi

Three displays for chakra representation are available:

Press the button F1 or click with the mouse on S(mall) for regular small display.

Press the button F2 or click with the mouse on M(edium) for the minor 7-chakra-display. In this display you should positionate the camera the way you see the person in full size. If you hit a number key there will be aura-transparent display (earlier versions). For printing that picture, click with the mouse on PRINT.

For the full-screen-display press the button F3 or click with the mouse on L(arge). This display is especially for the portrait display in regular mode and 7 chakra display in 7chakra mode. For printing this display click with the mouse on PRINT.

The CONTROL KEY

Note that if you press the “Control” key on the keyboard the aura will freeze. This will hold an aura for easier interpretation. Press the Control key again to allow the aura image to update normally. If the CTRL-Key blocks and you cannot access the freezing, try to change between the aura display modes and after that return to the screen you just left. It should work then.

Mind, body, spirit graph in detail

This mind, body, spirit graph shows in what proportions you are focusing the predominance of your energy. If the circle or pie is cut into equal sections you are a multifaceted, adaptable person, able to enjoy many various and divergent activities. You have an open mind, and are not attatched to a single way of thinking or being. You are easily able to shift your awareness from one state to another without resistance. A predominance of mind indicates that at this point in time your focus is mentally orientated, and you are probably mainly concerned with knowledge, new ideas, problem solving, intellectual communication and creativity. You may enjoy working with computers and organizing data. You feel most comfortable when you can use logic, systems and statistics to substantiate your ideas and theories. You may see green or yellow in your aura.

A predominance of body indicates that at this time you are primarily relating to the world through your five physical senses and body sensations. You feel your emotions through your body, especially the solar plexus center, or third chakra. You may see more of the warmer colors in your aura such as red, yellow and orange. This may also be a time when you are feeling full of energy able to enjoy and appreciate the natural world more. You may like to exercise outdoors or go camping, fishing, hiking, etc....Your physical well being and natural environment are very important to you now. A predominance of spirit indicates that your dreams, imagination, wishes, fantasies, artistic projects, self expression, and spiritual life are most important to you at this point in time. The practical realities of life probably hold little interest to you now. You march to the beat of your own inner drummer. You may enjoy deep meditation, prayer, or artistic pursuits. Your psychic and clairvoyant abilities may be awakening, and your synchronistic experiences may be truly miraculous. You may see more of the cooler colors in your aura such as blue, purple or white.

Leaving Winaura

To quit WinAura, press the “Esc.” Key or click the X in the upper right corner of WinAura’s window if available.

Meanings of the Aura colors

RED

Red ist the colour of energy and outer activity. It has to do with the spontaneous, real expression of power and life. Also there is a strong grounding which is a benefit for the material needs of life. Beside the theme to stand with both feet firmly on the ground, there is also the theme of passion and sexuality. The own energy can be used to realize your will. People with a red aura have a fast reaction.

Negative characteristics: You could tend to lead a life on the fast lane. Too much activity can lead to a situation where you don´t reflect your impressions anymore and only see the material side of life. On the psychological level it can lead to egotism, greed, impatience and inner restlessness. Everything is done out of an impulse and only afterwards you start to think about it.

ORANGE

Orange is a colour of creativity, spontaneous activity, humour and extroverted joy. Orange people love the independency and they early try to be individuals and emancipate from social systems. They have deep insights and instinctive wisdom which lead to empathy to their higher ideal. The life of orange people is never boring. They often experience strong changes in their life and they are quite open for changes and spontaneous decisions. Feelings which are related to orange are euphoria, deep excitement and being excited and a strong desire for freedom and independency. Sexuality is mostly not a mean to get children but comes just from pure joy and lust. Often there is also the effort to establish projects in workshops with other people and to support others. Also these people know how to observe the needs of others carefully.

Negative characteristics: The excitement can also lead into the contrary and it can result into irritating, uncalm excitement without any goal and inner peace. This can be seen as hystery on the one hand and as depression on the other hand. Another theme could be the inability to decide and change and this might be compensated in a form of arrogance and trying to dominate others. In special situations of life it could happen that there are also shock or trauma experiences.

YELLOW

Yellow represents acquired and learned knowledge and the intellect. Functions and exercises of the intellect are represented in yellow colours in the aura. Furthermore there is also a strong need for communication, contact and encounter. Information is perceived easily and without any effort. Attention is strong and can be stimulated by many impressions. Yellow is a colour which symbolizes easiness and enjoying life, openness and joy.

Negative characteristics: There can be a strong stimulation by outer impressions and this can lead to being quite superficial, not having an aim, and being diverted. One might oberve action without any depth and there might be the missing ability to make decisions. Everything is always only just being started but there is no depth and no acceptance of really get involved because the next impression is distracting the person away from concentration on one topic and staying with one thing.

GREEN

Green is the colour of earth, of nature, growth, fruit and of self-acceptance. It deals with matters of balance, harmony and centering. This can be achieved finding balance and steadiness in oneself. Security and connection with the earth can be supportive so that one is able to regenerate the own reserves. So healing can arise in the sense of that there is an exchange of abundance to the missing. Positive characteristics of the colour green are persistence and constant and industrious holding on the own goals. This can lead to wealth and money. Own property and land as well as clearly marked districts are preferred.

Negative characteristics: Where grounding is going into excess there can be greed and jealousy, envy and and egotism. By a strong holding on material values egotism and behaving like a low-brow can appear which hinder you to expand your horizon over the self-made boundaries and walls. No insight into the necessity of developing yourself further on.

BLUE

Blue is the colour of feelings and emotional sensitivity. You as somebody who can care carefully for others and listen intuitively can focus yourself on your counterpart and radiate calmness. You can radiate calmness and peace so that you seem to appear somewhat introverted to your enviroment or even a little bit cool. More positive characteristics are being very kind and a tender behaviour with animals and humans what maybe could also become visible in a motherly behaviour. You can develop a strong inner affection and you also have a longing for emotional security and fidelity. Also honesty and integrity can be imminent characteristics. You understand to communicate between conflict parties diplomatically. Blue is the first step for the perception of subtle information by higher senses.

Negative characteristics: The ability to express oneself is blocked and there can be a certain lazyness. Furthermore there is a strong need for harmonizing everything and necessary conflicts can be avoided by that. Also there might be the need to get grown and emancipate from the motherly principle - but often this will be avoided, too, so that getting grown is difficult.

VIOLET

You are very sensitive and sensible human being who knows how to perceive the more subtle vibrations of things and people. Therefore spiritual matters like meditation or religious practice play a role in your life. You could be seen as somebody quite calm from the outside but you reach deep with your roots. You can develop an almost tender fine ability to feel the things you do, a sensible identification. Your goal is to reach the unio mystica, the immersion of contraries in exstacy and contemplation. You have a natural modesty. People like you bring heaven to earth. Mostly there is also a therapeutic and a healing ability available.

Negative characteristics: You could have difficulties with the material and physical side of life in insisting on your personal wishes and rights. Then there can also be a tendency to flee from worldly matters and to daydream maybe caused by addictions and irrealistic phantasies. There can be an inclination to hide oneself.

MAGENTA

You have a high spiritual frequency. This frequency symbolizes love which is willing to give and share and which can be compared to the energy of Jesus Christ. This enery is a complete expression of godly love. This is not something which has nothing to do with worldly matters but a spirituality with its roots in life. With this basic frequency you have very good therapeutic abilities since you are able to bring unconscious matters to consciousness at yourself and for other people, to reflect on these matters and work with them. You have a good nose for hidden things.

Negative Attributes: It might be difficult for you to find your own sense of life and and to pursue it since your power might get irritatted by illusions or it is not easy for you to provide the ground for spiritual contents in your life and make it concrete. If you don´t have enough space and time for yourself you get out of rhythm and you cannot digest all the incoming impressions.

WHITE

On the spiritual level this colour White indicates quite a high energy level which has directly to do with light and enlightenment. It symbolizes the Good, the perfection and the godly eternity. White in the aura therefore is always a sign of high energy forms. On the personal level this influence shows itself by the need of emptiness and width and by the need to free oneself from obstacles and to let all possibilities open for oneself. One loves transparency and in certain situations of life it can be a sign

that one wants to start over again.

Negative characteristics: The need of freedom can lead to a flight and addiction to not binding oneself anymore. This can arise by blocking situations in life from which one tries to free oneself. But it can also lead to missing courage to bind oneself again and to confront with the own feelings. On the personal level there can also be the attitude to only use the mind without any feelings.

Aura Colors: Please note that these definitions do not necessarily apply to children.

Remember: Every color has its unique qualities and purposes. Imagine a color wheel. Each color is a location on the wheel. No color is better than another. Each has its inherent lessons, its positive and challenging traits. Remember, there are no bad colors: Many people feel very shy for the first time in front of such an instrument feeling that the image will reveal something very personal or intimate about them. Be gentle with your clients. For many of them, your time together is their first experience with the concept of the human aura.

Meaning of the different regions of the aura display

The different regions of the aura display indicate different fields of life and character of a person. (is also true für the aura video display. The video display usually does not show a correspondance of colors of the lower chakras unless 7 chakra display is not enabled).

ABOVE the HEAD

(At an aura photo you usually can differentiate between three different color layers which can be interpreted in a way described later on. With the video you can only see one color above the head but you can get more information through the seven chakra display)

The spot in the image above the person’s head indicates what the person is experiencing in the present moment. It's the color that would best describe you according to your inner being. By this colour it becomes clear what is important to you right now. If there is a band of color stretching like an arc over the top this indicates what the persons hopes, goals and aspirations are. For example an indigo blue arc may indicate the person's highest aspirations may be spiritual. A red arc would indicate more physical, monetary or business goals.

LEFT (Photo and Video)

The left side of the body (on the aura display this is seen on the right side of the display) indicates one's feminine, receptive or feeling side, the part of the personality that receives, feels, accepts, and imagines. The left side indicates what you perceive from outside and what kind of impact these impressions have on you inside. Also encounters with people and situations in which you are involved can be seen here. The color in this position is also indicative of what one is creating for him/herself in the near future. If there is an abundance of color here, the person may be focusing most of their attention in the future. If there is a lack of color here, the person may be dwelling on past memories and events.

RIGHT (Photo and Video)

The right side of the body (on the aura display this is seen on the left side of the display) indicates one's expressive, active, or masculine side, the personality one projects outward, how other people see us. The color in this position is indicative of the persona, or how one projects themselves to others. This energy represents your personal power for action and putting yourself into scene and how you get along in life when expressing your needs and wishes. This part of the picture also represents the recent past. If there is no color in this position or a hole, so to speak, this may indicate a loss of some sort, or a wish to let go of the past, perhaps a recent move, or profound personal transformation. Usually there is a great and abrupt change of some sort.

THROAT (Photo and Video)

The color seen above the throat shows how you communicate with your environment and how you express creativity. Communication and expression is not just the talking expression but also the physical, emotional and creative expression of the ego. The throat color indicates how you represent your personality to your environment.

HEART (Photo and Video)

The energy of your heart represents your innermost emotional energy and how you react to emotions. Here you can also see your ability to love and your way of how you express your feelings and experience these feelings inwardly and outwardly. On the physical level we get hints about the immune system.

SOLAR PLEXUS

(Photo: The color layer at the top above the head corresponds with this chakra (there are up to three different aura colors over the head which can not be seen with the video display - in the video display this additional information is available via the 7 chakra display))
The solarplexus chakra represents the personality of the own ego and therefore the vibration of your very being. It has to do with matters of control, power and freedom. Here is the center of selfconsciousness, of confidence in oneself and where you are subjective. This chakra describes how your consciousness experiences things.

NAVEL CHAKRA (SEX)

(Photo: The color layer in the middle above the head corresponds with this chakra (there are up to three different aura colors over the head which can not be seen with the video display - in the video display this additional information is available via the 7 chakra display))

The navel chakra represents the consciousness of basic needs for living (sexuality and food) and also represents the more extended needs of your living. The conditions of circumstances of daily life can be seen here as well as the general abilities to perceive the own environment which differs from oneself. From here you turn to others and get in relationship to other people.

ROOT CHAKRA

(Photo: The color layer at the bottom above the head corresponds with this chakra (there are up to three different aura colors over the head which can not be seen with the video display - in the video display this additional information is available via the 7 chakra display))

The root chakra represents the energy you use to ground yourself and which gives you roots. The root chakra has to do with questions of survival and and your will to live as well as with the question of material connection to earth and security. The link to the physical body is reflected here.

Guidelines For The Interactive Aura

After analyzing the Interactive Aura colors use the following guidelines for further analysis:

Auras that expand out: indicate high energy, expressiveness, extroversion, social activity, desire for connection, positive outlook, sense of adventure, or an expanded aura could indicate spiritual expansion.

Auras closer in: show an affinity for inward focus, sensitivity, desire for solitude, meditation, peace, tranquillity, or rest. This could mean a need to express or move out.

Speed: The speed of the color movement indicates the state of tension or relaxation. Rapid color change in the aura reflects a high activity level and a tendency towards tension and over activity. Slower aura movement indicates inner peace, calmness and passivity.

Focus: The vibrating Interactive Aura colors can be connected to specific body areas (chakras, or energy centers) as indicated by the focus or center of each aura display. These centers can be easily seen as moving balls of color in the appropriate areas of the body.

Balance: The colors or color combinations of the Interactive Aura can be balanced or unbalanced. Observe the harmony of the colors. Inharmonious, or complimentary color combinations may be an indication that the subject vibrates in many different color qualities and therefore may be in a very active state of mind, and energy.

The Interactive Aura effectively reflects and represents the state of each individual. The instrument will react differently with every individual. With some people, the Interactive Aura might not change very much, for others it will rapidly traverse the entire spectrum of colors.

As a basic rule, a shift towards red indicates inner activity, arousal, increase of energy, excitement. An energy shift towards violet shows relaxation, and movement towards emotional harmony.

As an Interactive Aura owner you possess great power in that you have the ability to change people's perceptions about who they think they are. For the first time in their lives they might see physical evidence that they may be something other and beyond just their physical body and personality. Seeing their own aura introduces them to the idea that they are also vibrant color, light, spirit, and energy. Just this concept changes many peoples' ideas of "self", and opens new doors for expanded awareness about themselves.

Perhaps without knowing it, you are changing your clients' awareness and their lives more than you may know, and in doing so you are changing the world. Please remember to be kind and patient with your clients. Just because you may be well versed in metaphysical concepts, sometimes it's easy to forget that most of the people you meet are new to this realm and may have sensitive feelings. Remember when you had your first aura photo taken, and how you felt.

Please avoid negative readings without offering any help or possibilities to overcome a negative status. You can encourage people to develop a more balanced lifestyle, to see a health practitioner or therapist.

Dongle counter

You get the message „no handplate detected“ if your hand electrode is not connected to the computer on the mouse port (COM-port #1 or #2) with the connection cable. If the handplate is right connected and ready, switch on and off, if there is an on-/off-switcher on your handplate. If the connection is ready you recognize that the dongle-counter shows the rest clicks. Until there is nothing to measure the aura is not visible. If you positionate your hand on the hand electrode you will recognize the changing aura colors.

Dongle and Functional Warranty Module

The dongle is your usage counter and software copy protection device. It will keep track of how many times you use your system. You must have a Dongle connected to your computer to run WinAura. When you receive your new WinAura system it comes with a 2,000 count dongle. You will see the count on your computer monitor. In the Small View, to the right of the picture is the word “Remaining” followed by the number of counts remaining in the dongle. The unit will use one count of the dongle and 1/11 count of the Warrantee Module(on the 6000-type handplate, if you are using one) every time the subject places their hand on the sensor box. Two dongle counts are used every time you print out a report (Interactive III-WinAura only). Your dongle is not only good for 2,000 video uses with interactive III, and it is also good for 2,000 uses with WinAura a total of 4,000 video uses. Print outs will use 2 dongle warranty points each.

The Functional Warranty Module (only Aura Camera 6000)

This device allows your Aura Imaging sensor box to compensate for changes in the environment. When installing a new module it may take some time for the unit to fully adjust itself to your particular conditions: temperature, humidity, air-ion balance, etc. The Warranty module is good for over 2,000 uses. Printouts do not use module
