From: http://www.vaikuttava.net/article.php?sid=1066 Questions Remain About the Mystery of the Fifth Hijacked Airplane (english) by Hauk 3:06pm Thu Sep 13 '01 (Modified on 5:07pm Thu Sep 13 '01) pahuri@hotmail.com Earlier in the day on September 11th, media reported that five airplanes had been hijacked. Since that time, discussion is of four. The fifth plane was never explained away. Early on September 11th, the day of the attacks in the eastern United States, CNN reported that a total of five airplanes had been hijacked, the fifth being, at that time, at an unknown location. Later that day, and since, media have reported on only four planes: the two which struck Manhattan, the one which struck the Pentagon, and the one which went down in Pennsylvania. The media does not seem to have recanted their earlier report of a fifth plane, it is simply no longer mentioned. Speculation grows amongst many people: what is the explanation here? Hypotheses range from a simple unacknowledged mistake to some kind of cover-up. Does anyone have any information on this? add your own comments i heard it crashed (english) by blue 3:19pm Thu Sep 13 '01 I heard about the fifth plane as well, but the TV station I was watching (cbc, I think) reported that it had crashed in the Camp David area. I never heard anything more about it except for that one bit of info. Did anybody else hear that? 8 planes reported (english) by Eivind Hasle Amundsen 3:37pm Thu Sep 13 '01 pulver@pulver.org At the 11th, 8 airplanes were first reported hijacked in Danish radio and television. The four "remaining" were never mentioned again, though, until yesterday. Then a news article said "these planes were forgotten, and that an American airline was missing additionally four of their aircraft". It seems, however, that this article has disappeared - I cannot find it. It was said that one of these planes had been heading for a city (I don't remember which one, because I didn't really pay so much attention to this article, but now I wish I'd done that). And that all of them might have been shot down. If this is true, which I sincerely doubt, it would be such a big news event, and indeed seem quite impossible to keep a secret. Have Americans shot down Americans to save further Americans? Any comments, views? Best wishes, and at the same time my deepest condolences Eivind H. A., Scandinavia World News Sources Report... (english) by Newland Archer 3:37pm Thu Sep 13 '01 Family and friends in Russia said that the mainstream media there reported the hijacking of 6 planes in the United States and 5 in Europe. A reliable source at the Air Force confirmed that 6 U.S. planes had in fact been hijacked, but he would commit to no other reports. I am working to verify this information from other sources. 8 planes reported (english) by Eivind Hasle Amundsen 3:37pm Thu Sep 13 '01 pulver@pulver.org At the 11th, 8 airplanes were first reported hijacked in Danish radio and television.
